Here’s a show you won’t want to miss.
Heroic area filmmakers, prominent Silicon Valley artists and musicians! Arts community movers and shakers. They’re all coming out just to show off for you!
So find May 24th on your calendar. Circle it. Line up a babysitter. Tell your boss you’re going to leave the office early.
Then get yourself to downtown San Jose for the ArtShots Screening and Awards Ceremony. You’re in for an evening that you won’t soon forget.
The excitement begins at Morocco’s Restaurant (86 North Market Street – Map – Review). Starting at 5pm, Chef Jay will offer complimentary wine tasting and delectable appetizers at their sidewalk wine bar for ArtShots ticket holders. Plus receive $5 glasses of wine and a free dessert should you come inside for a delicious dinner. Reservations for dinner are strongly recommended, please mention ArtShots at the time that you reserve 408-998-1509.
At 7:30, the doors open at the lovely Theatre on San Pedro Square and you’ll mingle with ArtShots competing filmmakers along with the artists and arts community leaders who served as their subjects. The no-host bar will hum with conversation while you locate your favorite seat in this picturesque theater and get ready for an inspiring look at the arts in the South Bay.
At 8:00pm, the evening’s entertainment begins with live music from one of the area’s most talented singer/songwriters. Amy Obenski (http://www.amyobenski.com/) is no stranger to this venue. She’ll give us a sneak preview of her upcoming July 9th show at this very theater along with a taste of her soon to be released fourth album.
Before the night is over, you’ll be treated to a musical performance by local band Tin Cat (http://www.reverbnation.com/tincat) as they share their musical talents — the inspirations for one of the ArtShots entries to be screened at the show.
Throughout the evening we’ll roll the top ArtShots clips, both those in competition as well as model clips prepared by local artist, publisher, and filmmaker Kimy Martinez. You can expect the opportunity to acknowledge the featured artists and the competing filmmakers as their clips unfold.
Before the evening is over, we’ll present the Audience Choice Award (you can still vote here until May 21st), the Blue Ribbon Jury’s Award for Best of Show, and a few surprise giveaways designed to delight ticket holders at this special evening.
You’ll also get to hear a little of the buzz being created by sponsoring an partner organizations like San Jose 48 Hour Film Project, Artsopolis, CreaTV, Cinequest, Works/San Jose, Los Gatos KCAT and more.
So how on earth could you miss this? Tickets are available here. Your seat in the theater is waiting, and we expect to see you there!
