The official results are back from the jurists and the ballot counters. San Jose’s 2011 awards for the 48 Hour Film Project are official. And it’s just in time for intrepid independent filmmakers to step right into the National Film Challenge. More on that later, but first, the awards.
Audience Choice polling takes place at the screenings during the week after the movies are turned in. The methodology used by the 48HFP makes this more than q “popularity contest” and filmmakers covet this honor as an authentic measure of how well their film is received by an audience.

Jury Awards
The jurists awards considered all qualified films and awarded honors on the basis of many aspects of the filmmaking craft. The jurists this year included:
Marianne Luchessi-Hamilton – Marianne has been a jurist for the San Jose competition since its inception five years ago. She boasts a background that includes work as a screenwriter, a valued member of the San Jose Film Commissioner’s office, co-organizer of the Cinecats Film Festival and Board Membership at KCAT TV in Los Gatos.
Kari Nevil – Kari is an award-winning filmmaker and principal at June Bug Films. This is her third year as a jurist for the San Jose competition. Her IMDb credits mark her as an accomplished writer, director, and producer. She brings a strong sense of what it takes to complete and deliver a film to the audience.
Jason Weiner – Jason is notorious among Bay Area film fans and festival organizers. He blogs about film and is a long-time fixture, always seen sitting front and center during Cinequest, San Francisco International Film Festival, and nearly every other regional film festival that he can fit into his schedule.
