Working for the Lunch Hour

Some days in the office, the best you can hope is just get to the next break. Anyone who’s ever worked in a call center will feel this next film touch a nerve.

This film from Once Upon a Thyme Productions fared well in the awards race for the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project during 2013. This year the team is in the hunt for awards again.

Their newest film will screen on Sunday, Sep 20th at the Camera Cinema in downtown San Jose.  The show starts at 4:30 and you can get Tickets Here.

In the Kitchen, Safety is Paramount

When it comes to the kitchen, safety is Rule #1. And when it comes to safety, listening to your wife is Rule #1.

That is, if you can remember.

This short film came from Ovation Pictures, whose latest work will show and be considered for Awards in the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project on Sunday.

You can be on hand if you’re near San Jose. It’s at the Camera 12 Cinema, Sept 20 at 4:30pm PDT. Tickets are available now.

Nothing to See Here Malcolm

We’ve lost count of how many gems the filmmaking team Film Antics has produced in time-based film competitions

They’ve brought home awards for Cinematography, Acting, and have finished as City Winner or runner up on multiple occasions. This entry brought them the prize for Best Comedy.

You can see the latest 48 Hour Film Project entry from this team on Wed night (Aug 19) at 7pm in San Jose. Their film will screen with about a dozen others at the Camera 12 Cinema. You can get tickets here.

Hush – It’s Not Really Us

Everybody wonders what it’s REALLY like in witness protection. The folks at Ovation Pictures made an entry for the San Jose 48 Hour Film Project to help us understand better.

Dream On

Some film production companies simply cannot get enough of stress, excitement, challenge, and accomplishment. These are the ones, like Once Upon a Thyme Productions, who keep coming back to the 48 Hour Film Project.

This year in San Jose, the troupe finished what was probably their fifth entry for the competition. Here’s a glimpse:

They put this together on the weekend of Aug 8th, right on the heels of rolling out their acclaimed feature film, Writer’s Cramp. You can see this entry along with a dozen others at the Camera Cinema in San Jose on Aug 20. Tickets are available here.

You Lookin’ At Me?

After nearly twenty rounds in the 48 Hour Film Project, we sort of expect Film Antics to be a well-oiled machine. They’ve produced numerous films that gathered awards including a City Winner for San Jose in 2013, and Best Film finalists in other cities and years.

This time we opted for a closer look, so we agreed to help them on-set and even make a cameo appearance in this year’s San Jose film. Take a peek:

The full movie screens at the  Camera 12 Cinema on Wed, Aug 19 at 7pm. You can find tickets here.
